Hundreds flock to be the first to look around total transformation of heritage site
Following the successful launch of its prestigious show home, Stowford Mill is one step closer to welcoming its first ever residents to live at the site which has dominated Ivybridge’s skyline for centuries.
Owned by award winning premium property developer, Burrington Estates, the creation of the 31 new homes will mark the completion of the first phase in the sensitive redevelopment of the eight-acre site, with homeowners due to move in from September.
Designing homes that maximise the stunning scenery whilst celebrating the impressive architectural significance of Stowford Mill has been a key part of Burrington Estates’ vision, who have a track record for the imaginative, design-led regeneration of historic buildings. The developer’s plan is to transform the site into a thriving community with contemporary new homes, retail units and leisure facilities to create a truly unique space that will continue the sites notable legacy for years to come.
The launch of the show home attracted almost two hundred people with a high number of reservations made on the day. Visitors were invited to tour the five bedroom show home, which features open plan living spaces, a British-designed kitchen by System Six and bi-folding doors to the landscaped garden. Burrington Estates have partnered with Maitlands Estate Agent for the sale of the new homes, and visitors were given the opportunity to speak with a financial advisor on the day.
Michelle Watson, Sales Manager for Stowford Mill, said:
“We were really encouraged by the number of people coming to see the show home – most were from either Ivybridge or surrounding villages. One consistent sentiment echoed on the day was the unique qualities on offer thanks to the setting and architecture. From the backdrop of the viaduct, glimpses of the pretty walled garden, impressive mature trees to the architectural might of the towering chimney, all spoke about how relaxing and peaceful the site feels.
We think this is also thanks to the proximity of the River Erme, as the gentle sound of water constantly flowing adds a special quality to the site and we are really excited to be able to show people everything this location has to offer. ”
With local people displaying an appetite for the new homes, Burrington Estates urges anyone thinking about visiting the show home to act as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
The Oak show home is now open for viewing Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm and Saturday from 9am-4pm.
